“In the age of technology, the multiplication of social networks and the apogee of the virtual, which makes us lose sight of the true meaning of life, it is essential to refocus on our values and to make them live through our actions.
Humanists must incarnate their values and inspire our actions to regain that balance and the harmony that is increasingly maltreated on this planet.
I created the Better World Forum because I am firmly convinced that humanity must be reborn on a new basis, to allow the enlightenment of every human being to flourish and to illuminate our world that so badly needs it.
I am convinced that cinema has the power to put forward this aspiration to a more fraternal, more compassionate world.
Beyond all political, religious or cultural differences, we highlight the rights of women, children, people with disability and refugees.
More than ever, we must protect our Mother Earth, the climate, the environment and biodiversity.
We need to unite, get out of the silence, build bridges and create synergies, not to revolt but to restore a proper balance, to guide and inspire future generations to engage for a Better World… so that peace gains the spirits, the hearts, and ultimately guides the world.“
After having produced “Darshan – The Embrace” directed by Jan Kounen and selected out of Competition at Cannes Film Festival, Manuel Collas de la Roche was the president of the -Cinéma Vérité Festival Geneva- with the support of Sharon Stone, Susan Sarandon, Jane Fonda, Carole Bouquet, Catherine Deneuve, Queen Noor of Jordan, Jody Williams and Nobel Peace Prize Wangari Maathai: www.cinema-verite.org
Manuel Collas de La Roche recently co-produced “KaLaChaKra” (The Enlightenment), a feature documentary produced and directed by Natalie Fuchs with the exceptional participation of H.H. The Dalai Lama and Uma Thurman as the narrator.
On March 23, 2018, Manuel Collas de La Roche was awarded the Gold Medal of the “Universal League of Public Good” for his service to Humanity at the headquarters of the Republican Guard in Paris.
CINEMATIC ART AT THE SERVICE
Because we need to highlight the good, we need to inspire,
we need to share and we need to act all together.
Because a Better World will not be possible without individual awareness.
...because today’s action is tomorrow’s change…
The Better World Forum is more than a single event, it is a sustainable movement that travels all around the world and will reach out to everyone.
In 2018, Better World Forum will be focused on Education – Children – Women’s rights – Environment – Biodiversity – Disability.
Our presence appears as a must as we believe in the International dimension of the Film Industry as a way to spread messages,
inspire and be the seeds of a Global change in the world.
Created to respond to a humanitarian impulse coming from a society in need of Authenticity and Truth, the Better World Forum aims to be the Voice and Image of tomorrow’s world through a series of Films and Documentaries from different countries to defend, promote and support all those actors in the shadows.

Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences © SAA Executive Committee
Lawrence David Foldes will serve as a member of the Jury during the Monaco Better World Forum 2018.
He will be presenting two very special programs:
Hollywood, Directing, and Acting
An in-depth look at the inner workings of Hollywood and the unique art form and craft of motion pictures. Mr. Foldes will examine the evolution of the film industry, and how films are conceived, financed, and produced in the current Hollywood environment.
He will also explore cinema’s unique combination of creativity and commerce, egos and generosity, influence and ingenuity, achievements and disappointments, excitement and struggles.
And how – even with all the hardships and challenges – beautiful, meaningful, powerful, touching, and entertaining work can be made with the right combination of talent, creativity, passion, dedication, hard work, and luck.
Both the emotional and technical aspects of Directing will be discussed, along with film acting techniques and the intricacies of the director/actor relationship.
Student Academy Awards Forum
This exclusive program showcases the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences’ Student Academy Awards program, and its recognition of international student films and filmmakers, bringing these highly creative works to the global community.
Mr. Foldes will acquaint participants with the Academy and its various programs beyond the Oscars.
The presentation of previous winning films from the Annual Student Academy Awards (as well as worthy submissions) is followed by an open forum and discussion about the
closed-door intricacies of the Academy’s selection process and voting procedures.
Participants will have the opportunity to hear and discuss the reasons behind why certain films make the grade, and why others don’t, directly from one of the long-standing members of the Student Academy Awards Executive Committee, the team that makes the rules and procedures for all Student Academy Awards, as well as the final selections of the Foreign Film Nominees.
Monaco Better World Forum 2018’s Awards are made out of Humanium Metal, created in partnership with IM, Swedish Development Partner.
The alliance between MBWF and Humanium Metal marks the first Awards creation in history of 7th Art, from a metal that fights the spread of firearms around the world.
Humanium Metal is considered as being the worlds “most valuable metal”.
There are hundreds of millions of illegal firearms in the world.
As a result, someone is shot every minute.
Armed violence is a global epidemic that hits developing countries especially hard.
To tackle this problem, Swedish NGO IM has launched Humanium metal – a new material made of recycled metal from gun destruction programs.
Melting these weapons and using the Humanium Metal to create the awards of the MBWF whose symbol is a dove of Peace, immediately resonated in the heart of the founder and president of MBWF, Manuel Collas de La Roche, as promoting Peace is the main focus of everything he undertakes. Whether via the MBWF or the films of which he is the producer.
This partnership was initiated by Karolina Bomba (MBWF’s Managing Director), who believes that a Better World and a return to global Peace are only possible without the use of weapons.
And that a movement like «March for our lives» should be a model of social mobilization.
Peter Brune (Senior Policy Advisor Humanium Metal), Simon Marke Gran (Humanium Metal’s Project Manager – IM, Swedish Development Partner) and Ann Svensén (Secretary General of IM Swedish Development Partner) have shown great enthusiasm for this new opportunity to promote Peace.
PEACE DOES NOT COME THROUGH PRAYER, WE HUMAN BEINGS MUST CREATE PEACE. ALSO, POWER OF TRUTH IS MORE POWERFUL AND ENDURING THAN THE POWER OF GUN. THEREFORE, THE HUMANIUM METAL INITIATIVE IS A LAUDABLE EFFORT AT MAKING THIS WORLD MORE PEACEFUL THROUGH CONCRETE HUMAN ACTION.
——- DALAI LAMA
GUN VIOLENCE IS A BIG THREAT TO SOUTH AFRICAÕS DEMOCRACY, AND A MAJOR STUMBLING BLOCK TO THE REALISATION OF A FULLY SHARED HUMANITY.
THE HUMANIUM METAL INITIATIVE IS ONE CONTRIBUTION TOWARDS ACHIEVING A NONVIOLENT FUTURE.

“OPEN A SCHOOL TO CLOSE A PRISON
THIS MAY SEEM UTOPIC. I WANT TO BELIEVE IN THE MIRACLE OF PEACE”
SAFE WORLD PEACE
« I prefer to respect rather than tolerate someone as that often means putting up with their presence and differences without really accepting them. How can you not embrace the symbols of Safe World Peace?… but I’m afraid that the red ribbon symbol is not enough. The red ribbon was not effective in the fight against Aides – the militants of associations were. As an artist among artists, I try at my humble level through my work, my emotions, to open eyes and hearts so that empathy is stronger than sympathy. »

“Beyond my deep friendship with Manuel Collas de La Roche, it seemed to me to be obvious that I had to get fully involved with Better World Forum.
I have been in PR for Christian Fechner for more than 10 years and always considered the film industry to be a channel of communication of the utmost importance for future generations. we do need movie directors with strong ideas who shall deliver positive messages to the world.
A world which will be a world at peace thanks to the respect towards women who give birth to life, and the respect for children, who are the foundation of tomorrow’s world.”
